My experience has been that employees fall into one of two camps: inspired to grow or content with complacency. For that reason I created the Empowerment Model, a training platform designed to engage employees deeper into their own growth and development.
Similar to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, the Empowerment Model starts with fundamentals and moves up toward mastery.
The development of any skill - management, communication, speaking - begins with competence. Unskilled employees are often overwhelmed, frustrated, potentially disengaged, and harmful to your business.
Step one: bolster skills so employees feel empowered to do their job (p.s. this is where most training programs stop).
As skills improve employees begin to take ownership of their current state, that's step two. They feel more capable, more supported and ready to take the next step in their development. The Empowerment model drives the self-awareness necessary for employees to understand where they are in order to get where they need to be.
The most powerful (and often missing) step is Choice: helping employees understand the impact of opting into their own personal and professional development. No matter what skill employees need, it only works if they've made the choice to grow. All the training programs in the world won't move the needle if employees nod their head in agreement but then do nothing to implement what they've learned.
The fourth and ultimate step is mastery. The employee is vested in their work; They contribute more, communicate better, think more strategically, and collaboration and productivity are high. This is the state of truly empowered employees.
Any training topic becomes more powerful through the Empowerment Model.
We don't stop at step one. It's not just about becoming more skilled as a manager, a communicator, a speaker or a leader. It's also about feeling empowered along the way. We work hard to develop the 6 core competencies that serve employees not just in this moment, but for their entire career.
All of my programs are designed to break the mold of what's typical in the training space. Expect laughter and sighs of relief as I share authentic examples and relevant lessons with your team members. I bring energy and enthusiasm into the room and attendees walk away armed with actionable next steps and the motivation to do what it takes to grow into a better employee, manager, and leader.
